My journey as an artist and filmmaker has been circuitous, weaving through many art forms, creative disciplines, and seasons of reinvention. Because of that, I understand the complexity of a writer’s inner life — the struggle to stay motivated behind closed doors, deep into the silent hours of the night, for days, weeks, months, and sometimes years, when no one is watching and it feels as though no one may ever see the work on the screen.

 

My joy is helping creatives, artists, storytellers, and writers move through self-doubt, self-sabotage, and creative chaos so they can discover and strengthen their Story Core — the foundation of their Story World.

 

I believe every powerful story begins beneath the surface: with the hidden convictions, wounds, desires, questions, themes, and truths that give a story its soul.

Writing a screenplay can be both isolating and euphoric. Every dream has a mountain, and every mountain has a desert — a wasteland of doubt, fear, exhaustion, and the temptation to turn back.

 

On that journey, a writer must learn to stay focused on the next faithful step. Staring too long at the mountain ahead can drain momentum, weaken stamina, and make the work feel impossible. That is why every writer needs companions: trusted voices who can listen, challenge, encourage, ask the right questions, and help guide the story back on course when the path becomes unclear.

 

For decades, I studied the major screen-writing teachers, systems, paradigms, and gurus. Eventually, I came to a place where I wanted something simpler, deeper, and more foundational.

 

Now, before I commit a single word to a script, I begin every screenplay by answering my 21 Story Core Foundation Questions.

 

Like building a house from a carefully designed blueprint, those answers determine the structure, shape, meaning, and emotional architecture of the story. They clarify the concept, reveal the heart of the characters, strengthen the theme, and establish the foundation upon which the entire script is built.

Beyond helping writers craft stronger stories, the My Story Core method helps writers become stronger crafters of story.

 

Through one-on-one consultations, I offer a trusted creative sounding board for writers who need help clarifying their concept, deepening their characters, strengthening their plot, and building a solid foundation before, during, or after the writing process.

 

I will challenge you, encourage you, ask hard questions, help you see what may be missing, and press you toward the goals you have set for your story and your script.
